Executive Staff

Cardell Johnson - Secretary-General

Cardell Johnson will serve as the Secretary-General for the SRMUN XX conference. Cardell received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Alma College in 2002 and his Masters of Public Affairs in Environmental Policy, Policy Analysis and Conflict Resolution from Indiana University. Currently, he works for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) in Washington D.C. as a Senior Policy and Budget Analyst. Cardell has been involved in various Model United Nations Conferences for nine years. This will be his fifth year on staff at SRMUN.


Elizabeth Kayed - Director-General

Elizabeth Kayed is thrilled to serve as the Director-General for SRMUN XX. Liz has been with the SRMUN organization for the past eight years ranging from Delegate to Chair to Director and last year serving as the Deputy Director-General. Liz graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with degrees in International and Comparative Political Science and Mass Media Communications. While in school, Liz attended a number of MUN conferences, including Harvard`s World and SRMUN. For her, SRMUN`s fundamental mission of education and mentorship, make this one of the best conferences offered to students. Liz knows that the hard work put forth from the staff, along with the didactic topic selections and overall importance of this year`s theme will culminate in the best SRMUN yet!


Charles Keller - Deputy Director-General

Charles Keller will serve as the Deputy Director-General for SRMUN XX. Charles is a student at Georgia State University majoring in Political Science with a focus on international relations. Charles has participated in Model United Nations and Model Arab League since his sixth grade year in school, and he has attended well over sixty simulation conferences in his lifetime as almost every staff and delegate position available. His primary interests in the international system include international law, scientific and technological issues on the international stage, Middle Eastern relations, the Security Council and international security, and the status of Non Self-Governing Territories such as Western Sahara.


Ana West - Under-Secretary-General, Conference Services

Ana West is a graduate of Valdosta State University with a BA in Political Science and minors in International Studies and the European Union and a graduate of the John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy at Seton Hall University with a MA in International Relations & Diplomacy. Ana has been on the staff of SRMUN for six years. She previously served as an Assistant Director, Director and as an assistant to the USG. She has studied abroad in Russia and the Czech Republic and has traveled extensively through Europe, North America and South America. Ana is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.


Committee Staff

General Assembly Plenary - gaplen@srmun.org
Director: Reggie Thomas

Reggie Thomas will serve as the Director of the General Assembly Plenary for SRMUN XX. This will be Reggie`s 17th Model UN Conference, participating as a delegate, team advisor and conference staff member. Reggie graduated from Pace University in May 2007 with a degree in political science and attained a Bachelor of Economics in 2008. His love for New York City politics led him to the office of the NYC Council Deputy Majority Leader. He serves as Director of Legislative & Budget Affairs. Outside of work and Model UN, Reggie loves to cook for friends, play cricket and explore New York City.

Assistant Director: Erica Little

Erica Little is a recent graduate from The University of North Carolina at Asheville in which she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science. This is her third year attending SRMUN and her second as a committee staff member. Erica will begin studying for her doctorate degree in Education starting in the fall of this year and immediately afterwards will begin her Masters degree in Atmospheric Science. She plans to perform research at a local government facility in meteorology and afterwards will work for some time as an operational meteorologist. As a final step she plans to become a professor at the graduate level in which she will teach atmospheric science and continue to remain actively involved in student affairs work on her spare time. Erica is extremely excited to rejoin the ranks of an amazing SRMUN team.


General Assembly Fourth Special Political and Deconlinization - ga4@srmun.org
Director: Sameer Kanal

Sameer Kanal will serve as the Director of the General Assembly Fourth Committee for SRMUN XX. Sameer is a 2008 graduate of the University of Washington, where he majored in Political Science and Economics with a focus in International Affairs. Sameers areas of interest in Model United Nations include international development, the Palestinian question, human rights law and security issues. He brings eight years of Model United Nations experience, including founding and managing the UW Model UN program, to SRMUN. This will be his second year as a SRMUN director, and he looks forward to seeing everyone at SRMUN XX!

Assistant Director: Kyle Proctor

Kyle Proctor earned a BA in Political Science and a BBA in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University. Kyle has been involved in thirteen Model UN and Model Arab League simulations. Kyle previously participated at SRMUN as a delegate to the Security Council. His primary interests include the digital divide, health informatics, mental health awareness and treatment, warfare technology, and IGOs such as the League of Arab States.

Director: Christina Stephens

Christina Stephens graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2003 with degrees in Communications and Political Science. This is her second year on staff at SRMUN and she has been involved in both local and international Model UN conferences for several years. Currently, Christina is a sales consultant for Executive Wines in Charlotte, NC and enjoys her free time playing tennis, losing at disc golf, biking, trying new wines and snow skiing.

Director: Morgan Gibson

Morgan Gibson is excited to be a part of SRMUN for her fifth year! Morgan formerly participated in SRMUN conferences XVI and XVII as a delegate in CSTD and rapporteur for UN-Habitat, respectively. Morgan was honored to serve on staff for SRMUN XVIII as the Assistant Director for the Economic Commission for Africa and was equally honored to serve last year as the Assistant Director of the World Trade Organization. At school, Morgan acts as the Secretary-General of The University of Tennessee’s High School Model United Nations, where she has been an active member since 2005. Morgan is currently a senior at The University of Tennessee and is pursuing a dual major in Political Science and French with an emphasis in Agricultural Economics and International Development. After getting her undergraduate degree, Morgan hopes to be accepted to a joint MBA-MAID program and further pursue international trade policy or international policy studies. In addition to Model UN, Morgan enjoys baking, writing, and watching horrible television.

Assistant Director: Fawn Apgar

Fawn Apgar is excited to be serving as Assistant Director of the Economic and Social Committee for SRMUN XX. Fawn is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with degrees in Psychology and Marketing with a concentration in research analytics. She is currently an Account Manager for a marketing firm in Charlotte, NC and is looking forward to obtaining her MBA and moving onto her PhD in Marketing Research. In her free time, Fawn enjoys reading, playing volleyball, mountain biking, and playing with her dog. She is excited to be a part of ECOSOC and SRMUN XX and looks forward to the fun and interesting work ahead!

Director: Cortney Moisher

Cortney Moisher will serve as the Director of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for SRMUN XX. Cortney is a native New Yorker and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from Pace University in 2007. Cortney is currently working on a Masters of Professional Studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz, with a concentration in Humanistic and Multi-cultural Education. She has aspirations for a successful career in the Not-for-Profit field. This is Cortney’s second time as a Director and third time on staff. See ya’ll in November

Assistant Director: Trey Sylvester

Trey Sylvester will serve as the Assistant Director of UNICEF for SRMUN XX. Trey is currently a sophomore at Mississippi State University where is pursuing a Biological Sciences degree with a Pre-Medicine concentration as well as a Political Science degree with a Pre-Law concentration. After completing his undergraduate degrees, Trey plans on pursuing Medical and Law school with the ultimate goal of achieving a foreign posting through the State Department. He has been involved with the Model United Nations program for four years and this will be his second year on staff for SRMUN. Trey is a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity at Mississippi State and is actively involved within the organization as well as externally as Community and Philanthropy Chair. Trey is always open to delegate questions and friendly discussions on various issues. Trey truly enjoys the Model United Nations process and does his best to reflect that in his capacity as SRMUN staff.

Director: Jonathan Edman

Jonathan Edman is a senior in the History program at Kennesaw State University and is also working on a minor in Peace Studies. He has been very active with Kennesaw State’s Model programs for the past five years. In that time he has served as the Director of the African Union at SRMUN XIX, Chair of the Council of Arab Environmental Ministers at both the Southeast Model Arab League and National Model Arab League conferences, and served as the Secretary General of Kennesaw State’s High School Model United Nations Conference. Jonathan was also elected to serve this year as the President of the Kennesaw State University Global Society, the parent organization for Kennesaw State’s model teams. Jonathan is a six-year veteran of the United States Navy. Serving as a Hospital Corpsman, Jonathan was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Groton, Connecticut and with the 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Force Service Support Group on Okinawa, Japan.

Assistant Director: Adrianna Sekula

Adrianna Sekula will serve as the Assistant Director for the Organization of American States. Adrianna is a senior at Florida State University, majoring in International Affairs with an emphasis in Business. She is also obtaining a global certificate in Human Rights. Adrianna has been involved with Model United Nations for three years, both as a delegate and a staff member. In the past, she has served as the President of the MUN program at Tallahassee Community College and was a co-founder of Students In Action, an organization which brought college students to Cambodia to teach English at a Poverty Development school. She is currently a board member for the Tallahassee Southern MUN high school conference (TSMUN) and is serving as the Secretary-General of the Florida Model United Nations (FMUN). Aside from MUN, Adrianna serves in numerous community activities and enjoys cooking and playing basketball. Her future goals include working for an international non-profit and competing in the Amazing Race.

Director: Kristina Mader

Kristina Mader holds a B.A. in Political Science & Government focused on International Relations and Women, from Western Washington University. Kristina currently works for the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security in New York City where she assists in monitoring the full and rapid implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325. In the future, she hopes to continue her education by getting a masters degree focusing on women and development. This will be Kristina`s tenth year of involvement in Model United Nations, and second year on staff at SRMUN. In addition to SRMUN, she has been on staff at over a dozen conferences, including National Model United Nations and Northwest Model United Nations. Beyond staffing, Kristina founded and served as President and Advisor for the Model UN program at Western Washington University from 2004 - 2008. Kristina is very excited to be a part of SRMUN XX and looks forward to seeing everyone in November!

Assistant Director: Kristiana Moore

Kristiana Moore will serve as the Assistant Director of the Commission on the Status of Women for SRMUN XX. Kristiana is a native Californian who recently moved to Washington D.C. This is her third year at SRMUN and second year on staff. Previously Kristiana served as the Assistant Director for the General Assembly Plenary at SRMUN XIX. Kristiana has been involved in Model United Nations for four years while earning a BA in Political Science - International Affiars at the University of California at Riverside. Kristiana enjoys traveling and recently went to the United Kingdom and Turkey. Kristiana plans to attend Law School in the fall of 2010 and pursue a degree in International Law as well as a Masters in either International Relations or Middle Eastern Studies.

Director: Lee Boswell

Lee Boswell is a senior at Georgia State University where he is majoring in History and Middle Eastern Studies. This is his second year at SRMUN, first year on staff. He has also spent two years serving on staff at the Georgia State High School MUN as well as serving on staff at the National University Model Arab League conference. His interests include religious minorities, Arab monarchies and democracy and maritime security. After graduating in summer 2009, he intends to work towards his M.A. in History with an ultimate goal of teaching at the university level.

Assistant Director: Jacques Pape

Jacques Pape will serve as the Assistant Director of the International Court of Justice for SRMUN XX. He is a junior at Morehouse College where he is majoring in International Studies and Physics. This is his third year at SRMUN and his first time on staff. He has also spent two years serving on staff at the Morehouse College MUN, and as a delegate at the Harvard World MUN conferences in Latin America and Europe. His interests include armed conflicts, Middle-Eastern politics, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and international security. Jacques hopes to pursue a B.S. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering with an ultimate goal of working for an influential international organization.

Director: Hether Scheel

Hether Scheel is currently a senior at Berry College where she is pursuing a degree in Government and Philosophy. She has been an active member of Berry College Model UN since 2006. Hether has served as BCMUN President since 2008, leading delegations to SRMUN, NMUN, and WorldMUN. Her academic interests include international development, international law, and human rights with a focus on the Middle East. Hether hopes to serve in the Peace Corps before attending graduate school to earn her masters degree in International Development and Non-Profit Management. Hether is looking forward to SRMUN XX.

Assistant Director: Adam Garvey

Adam Garvey will serve as the Assistant Director of the League of Arab States for SRMUN XX. He is currently a student at Georgia State University, where he is studying Political Science with a concentration in International Affairs. Adam has been a delegate and staff member at various Model UN Conferences for 5 years. This will be his fourth year of participation at SRMUN, and first year as a staff member.

Director: Randy Herman

Randy Herman received a BA in History from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro in 2006 where he specialized in the history of the Soviet Union and post-Soviet development. He has also studied at the University of Tartu in Estonia where he received a Certificate in Baltic Studies. He has attended SRMUN twice before as a director and three times as a delegate. He currently works in the non-profit financial sector.

Assistant Director: Teshome Smith-Murray

Teshome Smith-Murray graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2006, in which she received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. During her time at UNCC, Teshome participated in several Model United Nations conferences including SRMUN, Carolina’s Conference, and Harvard’s WorldMUN. Teshome currently works in the non-profit sector with Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina and is interested in entering the Public Health field. She is excited to come back to the SRMUN family and for the great work ahead from the Security Council!
