Welcome to SRMUN Virtual

October 2 - 3, 2021

Letter from the Executive Director of SRMUN, Inc.

Distinguished Delegates and Esteemed Advisors,

It’s an honor to invite you to SRMUN Virtual 2021, taking place October 2 - 3, 2021, via Zoom!

For more than 32 years, SRMUN has been an exemplary learning experience for intercollegiate students interested in pursuing issues of international concern. Unfortunately, the last year saw the cancelation of three in-person SRMUN conferences because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the height of the pandemic, we shifted the Model United Nations (UN) learning experience online for SRMUN Atlanta and SRMUN Charlotte. Following the success of Virtual SRMUN Atlanta 2020 and Virtual SRMUN Charlotte 2021, and the feedback of our conferences’ participants – who have made it clear that the Model UN experience can be successful virtually and attract participants from the west coast region, Canada, Latin America, and beyond – the SRMUN Board of Directors agreed to officially establish the organization’s third conference: SRMUN Virtual.

Unlike the SRMUN Atlanta and SRMUN Charlotte conferences, the condensed SRMUN Virtual 2021 will take on a different approach. This two-day inaugural, standalone virtual conference will have two single-delegate committees: General Assembly Plenary and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), with the latter simulating a crisis. We have eliminated the College/University school registration fee for SRMUN Virtual and reduced the delegate registration fee to $30 per student. The virtual conference is also open to international institutions. Awards based on Position Papers and engagement during the conference weekend will be available. We will have more information later this summer.

Registration and committee Background Guides will be available by August 1st. If you have any questions about SRMUN Virtual 2021or how to register, please feel free to email sg_virtual@srmun.org

Sincerely,

Michael Oleaga
